Darling’s Lake Postcards

These eight postcards from Wilfred Allan’s collection depict scenes in the community of Darling’s Lake during the first half of the twentieth century. I give cancellation dates (if legible) in the captions of cards that were actually mailed. I thank Wilfred for permission to display these images.

Wilfred observed that the second postcard “has to have some skullduggery behind it. There just ain't no hills like that along the lake, possibly the lake isn't legitimate either. Of course, I think that makes the card even more delightful as long as there's an explanation.”

Since many of the images depict Aaron Flint Churchill’s summer home, the Anchorage, the album also accompanies “The Churchills of Darling’s Lake.”
