The Beautiful Land of Evangeline

Margo Tassi, when settling her paternal grandmother’s estate in Brooklyn, New York, found a souvenir spoon and two souvenir view albums, which suggested that Rose Tassi traveled in Nova Scotia through the Annapolis Valley and along the South Shore. The view books were published by the Photogelatine Engraving Company, Ottawa. Although undated, one of them included images of the steamships Evangeline and Yarmouth, which began service from Yarmouth in 1927, whence the book’s publication––and Rose’s presumed visit to Nova Scotia––might have been in the early 1930s.

I thank Margo for allowing me to display Rose Tassi’s Nova Scotia view book, The Beautiful Land of Evangeline.
