The Bridges of Yarmouth County

Twenty years ago Hollywood released a film about the covered bridges of a rural county in the American midwest [1]. As a documentary the film disappointed me because it featured just one bridge, and furthermore its narrators––a visiting professional photographer and an Italian war bride––seemed to be unfamiliar with, or uninterested in, the history of that bridge. I could do better, I thought, but chronic underfunding forces me to focus, instead, on the bridges of Yarmouth County.
